I'm not sure what you mean by "only backup instance data". The export
contains, as you mentioned "all the instance data and its configuration",
and does so as separate files. If "only backup instance data" is supposed
to mean that the configuration should not be part of that export then I
wonder
how hard it can be to ignore a small text file. If, on the other hand, the
request is to only backup the configuration, then this might be a legitimate
feature request, e.g., if the contents of the disks are backed up by other
means. However, realistically, I doubt someone of the core team will have
time to work on it; patches, however,are, of course, always welcome.
Note that if your goal is to backup the configuration of the whole
cluster config.data from the Ganeti state directory (/var/lib/ganeti on
many systems) is the file to look for.
