Both the compression options and zeroing of disks via an auto-zeroing image
have been implemented. In practice, a speedup can be achieved using these
options, but a more content-aware solution is needed to truly push down the
costs of instance moves over a WAN. A solution like that can be implemented
in the import and export scripts, and it is up to OS providers to achieve
this.
As there is little more we can do in Ganeti without using specific
capabilities of the underlying storage, I am closing this bug and marking
it as released.
