get ready for a last minute Christmas surprise: Ganeti 3.0.0 has been
released! [1]
Since the last -rc1 in September 2020 a number of changed have accumulated
and we would like to acknowledge the work of the following people:

We would also like to extend our acknowledgements to everyone who has
engaged in reviews, testing and reporting of issues.
As this is a stable and major release, I would also like to point to the
major changes which have been incorporated since the last stable release
2.16.2:
- Python 3.6 compatibility
- GHC 8.0 through 8.8 compatibility
- VLAN-aware bridging
- Improved support for DRBD 8.4
- Improved support for/up to QEMU 4.2
- Improved documentation
Smooth upgrades are supported from clusters running 2.16.2. Please note
again - there is no supported/direct upgrade path from the Ganeti-2.17 beta
release. Please see [2] for some discussion on that topic.
