Hey Everyone, quick update from my end. I finally found some time to hack together some bash scripts for the instance-simpleimage approach. You can find the current code here:
https://github.com/ganeti/instance-simpleimage It features support for local and remote (HTTP/HTTPS) images, caching of downloaded files, multiple variants, hook scripts (per variant), bitwise export/import.
