great! i guess we need to figure out all the systems that ganglia
supports and add it to the documentation. AIX, FreeBSD, Solaris, Linux
(alpha,sparc,ia32,ia64), IRIX, .. what about Tru64 and SunOS? i've heard
rumors it might work there too.
All my Solaris development has been for 64-bit Solaris 8 (SunOS 5.8). It
should be forward and backward compatible down to at least Solaris 2.6
(compiled for 32-bit) but I don't really have any old hardware to test it
with. Anything with support for libkstat/libkvm should be fine.
IRIX is mostly OK (see earlier e-mail). My development's been on IRIX 6.5.
Tru64 ... I tried it, it went down in flames during compile-time. It's
probably fixable but I'm not particularly eager to port it to a platform
and OS that's basically been EOL'd. Even though we still have quite a few
of 'em ... to quote the person who gave me the test box, "Tru64 is pure evil."
