in the C version of gmetad .. you have

/etc/gmetad.conf
/usr/sbin/gmetad
/var/lib/ganglia/*

and that's it.  (of course you can change the prefix).  i'll make sure 
that gmetad keep it's paws off of /usr/local/ in the future.  :)
