Great minds think alike! We have also discussed the possibility of a Ganglia 
SNMP interface for the same reason: to monitor black box fileservers where we 
cannot use a traditional UNIX OS environment to run daemons. I guess it would 
require a kind of SNMP collector or SNMP-Gmetad  that could gather data from 
multiple SNMP sources and wrap the data appropriately for normal Ganglia 
consumption.
