i did a

% cvs rtag -r Release_12_10_2004_Version-2-5-7 -b v2-5-8 monitor-core



i then modified the files and did a simple

% cvs update
% cvs commit



http://matt-massie.com/ganglia/ganglia-monitor-core-2.5.8.tar.gz

i will look at this more tomorrow.

You're right. Some files in 2.5.8 are older than 2.5.7. I just tried running 
2.5.8 on Solaris and it immediately failed because it required root permissions 
to use kvm. We dropped kvm for kstat a while ago.

likely my fault. Some time ago I promised to look at

backporting the

"mainline" Solaris file to the split-off 2_5_X tree.

Unfortunately I

had some personal things and my job distracting me from that. In addition, I have major problems accesing CVS recently.

I will try to get something done later this week.

sorry to followup on myself. I just solved my stupid CVS mistake (wrong CVS_RSH :-( and checked out the Beta-2-5-8 branch. Now I am really worried. It seems that some versions of 2.5.8 files are actually older than the files in 2.5.7. One example is the gmond/key_metrics.h file. It has version 1.12.2.1 in 2.5.7 and 1.12 in 2.5.8. Is it possible that a mistake was made when creating the 2.5.8 branch?
