Greetings, I am now at SCALE6x where I got a hold of David Maxwell from Coverity, who commented they might have already the results of a source scan they did to ganglia (as part of another 8000 packages he imported form pkg_src) (*)
Of course the results are not public, because there is no development contact coming yet upfront to request that ganglia be scanned regularly for free as part of their opensource scanning services : http://scan.coverity.com/ Ideally the project leader (Matt) should be the one doing that contact (sending an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] which is then managed by David) to create the needed setup. The project leader will be given administrator privileges into coverity's portal to create other accounts for developers who would help fixing the bugs identified, which I would be of course glad to be part of (statistically there might be up to 10% false positives, but is IMHO a once in a life opportunity to do some source code auditing which could help with problems like memory leaks, concurrency issues or security vulnerabilities). SCALE is still going on until Sunday; OpenNMS has a booth and Groundwork is a Gold Sponsor with other monitoring commercial exhibitors as well like Zenoss and Hyperic but since I am just an observer and hadn't seen any monitoring specific BOF or presentation I'll keep quiet about ganglia but will be happy to help coordinate anything needed if you guys for some lapse of judgment consider I'll be a good ambassador (luckily Peter from Groundwork is also here if needed). Carlo (*) the list for rung0 (http://scan.coverity.com/rung0.html) doesn't show all of them and since the import used pkg_src it will be most likely need to be done with fresh SVN instead. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
