I actually voted on these proposals two weeks ago. I don't mind voting through
email except that it makes it difficult to actually track votes and votes will
tend to get lost. In reality the votes are already happening through email due
to the fact that when you vote and commit the STATUS file, an email is sent to
the list which contains the vote. We just need to get used to looking at the
SVN commit messages and checking the STATUS file. Unless we are tracking
backport proposals and votes through a mechanism like the STATUS file,
backports will get lost. Sending reminders through email is also a good idea.

There are still several backport proposals in the STATUS file waiting for
review and votes. Our problem isn't the way that voting is happening, it is
the lack of reviewers. Even if you don't have commit access and not able to
vote on a patch in the STATUS file, you are still able to review a patch and
provide feedback. Please take a look at those patches, review them and vote or
make comments. We really need to get a beta of 3.1 out and get this released.

Brad
