comments below, none of them a "must" for the release announcement but
still worth considering IMHO.

wiki updated, mainly to fix the incorrect instructions for manually updating
the configuration files when using RPM.

using the URL to point to the package source so it can be copy and pasted or
used for browsers where "here" might not be that significant (like brayle
readers) might be a good idea as well, but left unmodified for now as it will
revert an earlier update.

OK, since our download link provides some RPM packages would be probably a
good idea to point our DEB users to the debian experimental packages in :

  http://packages.debian.org/experimental/ganglia-monitor

or for anyone brave enough to my unofficial windows binary "package" in

  http://tapir.sajinet.com.pe/ganglia/ganglia-3.1.1-bin.zip

I know this is standard wording, but could we not say we are "pleased" (at
least I am not) considering this is a quick release following showstopper
bugs that sneaked out in 3.1.0.

and no, I am not trying to find anyone to blame or complain about release
procedures or anything like that, but just saying that the used wording isn't
accurately reflecting the fact that we don't want that to happen again and
are working to avoid it (even if it might not be at all 100% possible due to
our limited testing capability)

is "additional testing requested" leftover from a testing announcement or
intentionally left here, and if so what does it mean?

could we say 3.0 instead here?, as technically 3.1 was forked around 3.0.5 and
so there are some code changes from 3.0 that didn't make it, even if it might
be correct for the documentation.

also gives the false impression that 3.0 is closed for development with 3.0.7,
which is not correct since 3.0.8 is being prepared to be release and the
branch is still alive (at least in maintenance mode).

this was pointed out in the previous release announcement as not a good idea,
as it will result in :

* hierarchical gmetad users having summarization problems with memory metrics
* gmetric users having metrics moving as clusters are migrated from 3.0

it will be better if consistent with the release update instructions it will
say instead :

"allowing a 3.1 gmetad to continue to pull data from an old gmond cluster"
