After the discussions about AIX last week, I'm confident that Michael's
patches (or a slight variation of them) can be integrated for 3.1.6.
This means that

a) the tarball will hopefully work as-is for AIX users,

b) the bootstrapping issue can be addressed in 3.1.6, as we no longer
have to worry about the way AIX users were patching configure/libtool

Has anyone else found any showstopper issues?

Is there any lingering objection to bootstrapping 3.1.6 with autotools
on Debian 5?

The snapshots at http://www.pocock.com.au/ganglia/test have been
bootstrapped on Debian 5, and it would be useful if people could try
compiling and running them. Even if you just have time to download them
and run ./configure && make, that might still provide useful feedback
about the bootstrapping change.

Regards,

Daniel
