Hello,

I sent this to Matt directly by mistake, so I'm following up
by sending it to the list.
I'm testing the latest ganglia rpm at work on a small 5
node cluster running RH 7.1 with 2.4.16. On 2 of the nodes
everything works correctly. However, on 3 nodes, gmond
never gets started. If I force it,

/etc/rc.d/init.d/gmond restart

and then check the status,

/etc/rc.d/init.d/gmond status

I get the following,

gmond dead but subsys locked

If I remove /var/lock/subsys/gmond and restart gmond,
I get the same error message when I check the status.
So, I thought, maybe I screwed up the install (weird, but
could happen). I try to un-install it and get the following
error message,

[EMAIL PROTECTED] init.d]# rpm -e ganglia-monitor-core-2.2.1-1
Shutting down GANGLIA gmond: [FAILED]
error: execution of %preun scriptlet from ganglia-monitor-core-2.2.1-1
failed, exit status 1

Looking at rpm error messages is not my strong point :)
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I think my last
resort would be to build ganglia from scratch on each node,
but I'd like to avoid that.

Thanks!

Jeff Layton
