I was experiencing a similar issue as given in

http://www.mail-archive.com/ganglia-general@lists.sourceforge.net/msg05400.html

My error was that I had the web front-end (conf.php) using the gmetad
xml_port when in fact it should be using the interactive_port.

It was hard to diagnose. Telnetting to the xml_port would show all the
hosts. Sometimes the web front end would show partial information and
sometimes it would show all information. Php errors of the form were
produced:

[Tue Dec 21 15:47:09 2010] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] PHP Notice:
Undefined index: cpu_num in /usr/share/ganglia/functions.php on line

Undefined variable: c_metrics in /usr/share/ganglia/host_view.php on
line 127, referer: http://localhost/ganglia/

I hope this helps somebody else.

Thanks,

Mark
