All: I read about the Gardeners group yesterday, and I am very excited to get involved. In a sense, many of the criticisms of the CL community seem like well-founded frustrations at finding entry-level help. Of all the discussion of late, this seems to be a more productive way to respond to it than anything else I've seen.
My background is normal computer science -- I've been programming for 16 years in various and sundry languages, but only about 6 years in Common Lisp and that "other" language that I suppose I should not mention ;-). My professional emphases have been information security, auditing, and databases (and a little web stuff when necessary). I mostly use CL for personal projects, but lately I have been applying it in a major sense at work doing some data mining and statistical analysis for my organization's big database. I consider myself capable with CL, but not experienced with large projects. I've been itching to get involved in the CL community for a long time, and this seems like a great opportunity! It seems like the organization of this group is really yet to be decided (unless I'm too late to the party and missed the constitutional convention), but I would enjoy the opportunity to get into the mix of things. -Josh Stone- _______________________________________________ Gardeners mailing list [email protected] http://www.lispniks.com/mailman/listinfo/gardeners
