Agreed, with a caveat.  Brainstorming is an important phase, and you 
don't want to kill a good idea by cutting off a good brainstorm too early.

But we probably need to recognize that this is mostly brainstorming 
right now, and be willing to take stock at some point afterwards and 
settle on a smaller number of highly achievable projects.  I think 
that's a process that's already been suggested by Peter Seibel and others.

Also, I expect that people will have different ideas of what's "really 
important".  As long as those ideas are focused into a doable number of 
discrete projects, there's nothing wrong with that.  (I don't place much 
importance in GUI toolkits, but I'm glad that others do, because I'll 
probably want to use it someday.)
