This is OSX specific but Aquamacs has done a huge lot to bring emacs closer to the "native" user. But it does not include slime. I did ask the developer but he replied that there was no need for a "scheme" mode in Aquamacs and suggested I maintain that as a separate plugin, which is way over my capabilities...
