I renamed the license file to 'devel.lic' and left it on my desktop. When I started LispboxEmacs, it prompted me for the location of the file. It loaded after I also changed the permissions on the acl_80 directory and all went swimmingly .
As for default fonts, I agree. I humbly submit a vote for Andale Mono.
