I have found that, as a beginner, the settings to get Emacs.app work
nicely with a CL implementation/slime all in utf-8 were not exactly
trivial.

For people working on a Mac, where any multilingual input/output is
simply trivial, I think it would be nice to have such default
settings on LispBox, or at list pointers to relevant documentation :)

I have an Emacs.app+CLISP+slime setting in UTF-8 now after numerous
questions on the clisp list :) and I could provide info for my
setting if that is necessary.
