I think if you're going to compare stats, you need to look beyond total yards and look at red zone production. In the MSU game, we moved the ball freely between the 20's, but just couldn't punch it in when we needed to. In the Georgia game we opened it up enough that we were scoring mostly from outside the red zone and we turned more conservative against Vandy, and once again weren't as productive in the red zone as we were last year. So while total yards have been consistent, scoring hasn't been.
I'm wondering about your other point, with the OL. Red zone production is down this year and sacks are up. Is the loss of Trautwein and Watkins really making the difference? Maybe so. Haven't we also lost a couple of good offensive linemen to injuries this year as well?
