i dont think we can put the entire blame on what dunlap did... there were still 22 guys that were just as talented that didnt step up..
I got in an argument with ppl at work about the playoff vs bowl system... and i was the lone soldier for the bowl games.. and I said all a play off says is they were better that day.. and in my opinion the championship is supposed to be... whos the best in the country.. and a playoff doesnt resolve that anymore than the bowl system does... and a fellow gator fan at work said "exactly"... so I turned to him and said.. "you look me in the eyes and tell me right now.. that you think Bama is a better team than Florida." He didnt say one word. Even Mack Brown was quoted telling his players in prep for this game "we dont have to be the best in the country.. we just gotta be the best one out there today" Bama is not a better team than Florida.. I would be willing to bet my entire assets on that.. I give them credit.. they were up for that game against us and wanted it more. I dont believe Texas is a better team than Florida. Florida is the best team in the country even without Dunlap... I really do believe that... they just didnt show it at the SECCG.
