My husband went to a high school in Arizona, whose mascot was "The
Criminals."  He took me by the school, and there it was, proudly
displayed "Home of the Criminals!"  A very old and historic prison
resides nearby, hence the name.  In that light, "Thundering Rednecks"
seems very reasonable! LOL!

LOL! I believe it was there while we lived there, but I don't recall
what they were called. "Thundering Rednecks" certainly would've been
appropriate, however. Going from OP into Middleburg and back should've
required a security gate with a guard checking passports like East
Berlin.
