Florida's Carl Moore speaks with media Wednesday.

Carl Moore arrived at Florida in 2008 with huge expectations. But instead of
catching passes and producing big plays and touchdowns, he's found himself
butting heads with frustration and disappointment seemingly every step of
the way.

It all appeared to boil over for the junior college All-American wide
receiver last spring.

One day, he angrily stormed off the field at the end of practice.

The next practice, he didn't show up.

Many were wondering: Is this it? Is this the end of Carl Moore at Florida?

As it turned out, it wasn't. He returned to practice and played in the
spring game.

On Wednesday, five months later, Moore talked to the media for the first
time since his brief but mysterious spring disappearance. He revealed that
his two-day departure had nothing to do with any issues on the playing
field.

"I was dealing with some personal issues on my own," he said. "It was just a
couple of days. After that it was (over).

"I met with the coaches. I talked to them every day. I really just got
through it. I've got to play ball, so I just went."

Moore was asked if he considered leaving the team during those two days he
was away from the team.

"No, nothing like that," he said. "No."

Moore would not reveal what his personal issues were, but said they were
resolved. Ever since then, he said he's been concentrating on football and
working to get better.

Maybe the frustration and disappointment are behind him now, and it's time
to start living up to those expectations.

"Carl has had a great preseason," offensive coordinator Steve Addazio said.
"He's really locked in right now. I'm real happy with Carl, and for Carl. I
really think he's got the right mindset. I think he's going to have a really
good year this year."

Addazio said he never felt like he might lose Moore when Moore momentarily
left in the spring.

"You know how it is. You appreciate what these guys go through," Addazio
said. "High expectations, injuries, disappointment. They're still kids.
They're young and sometimes they don't handle those things exactly text
book. But they bounce back and they learn and grow.

"Carl has come back with a great attitude and outlook, and I like where he's
headed right now. A lot."

Moore appeared headed in the right direction a year ago, too, but he got
blindsided by probably the biggest disappointment of his career. His lower
back went out in camp and he eventually had season-ending surgery to repair
a bulging disc.

"It's tough when you train hard and something like that happens right before
the season starts," he said. "There was nothing I could do. All I did was
train and try to get back. I just kept working to get my back right so I
could get back this year."

Moore redshirted last season and now he's preparing for a second crack at
his senior season.

He's apparently off to a good start.

"I'm really pleased with him," wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni said. "He's
a veteran guy. He's become a player and he's taking coaching and he has a
good attitude and he's hungry.

"He knows this is a limited window for him. It's time to go."

Along with junior Deonte Thompson, Moore has emerged as one of the leaders
of a young wide receiver corps.

When Moore talks about the upcoming season, he doesn't mention any personal
goals he might have.

"I'm more motivated for team success," he said. "I'm more concerned with us
winning a national championship. This is my last year, and I want to win and
go out on top."

When Moore was asked if he expected to be one of quarterback John Brantley's
go-to guys, he said, "Honestly, I just want us to win. I'm just down for
winning. Whatever I have to do to contribute to that, that's what I'm going
to do."

Moore's attitude seems right. So is his back, he said.

"My back is 100 percent," he said. "My back is good."

And Moore is back for one last shot to make something happen in his Florida
career.
