<< Demps isn't making plays? Are you, or anyone else, really saying that? >>
Yes I am. If you watch the play - Demps was untouched on the play. On plays were he is touched - he averages like 4 yards per carry versus over 9 for Gillislee. I'm surprised he average 4 yards per carry - but Miami is the worst team in college football. This is the same old problem with Demps. Demps goes down with arm tackles. Against weak opponents, when our OL blows open huge holes - Demps, Rainey, Gillislee and just about anyone else - takes it for a TD. Whereas Gillislee breaks tackles - and picks up more yards per carry. We get the best of both worlds with Gillislee. -----Original Message----- From: gatortalk@googlegroups.com [mailto:gatort...@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of oli...@bobparks.com Sent: Monday, September 06, 2010 4:36 PM To: Gator Talk Subject: Re: [gatortalk] Rumors, stubbornness and Playmakers Demps isn't making plays? Are you, or anyone else, really saying that? Who was it then, that had the 70 yard run for a touchdown? Was that Gillislee? Let's all sit down, relax, and let them play next week. Then, if they're all still as bad as some say, let's all jump over and start wearing Garnet and Gold. If you want a great team, the Semis beat the hell out of Samford. Is that the gauge of greatness? But we have seen Moody and Demps for several years now. We were told that their problems have been fixed and this year would be different. Last game - looked like same old problems - while Gillislee and Hines made plays. Meyer kept saying that he couldn't find playmakers. Maybe the problem is that he is only looking for Rainey, Demps, and Moody to make plays - and they aren't doing it. While Gillislee and Hine keep making plays all over the field ... Hopefully it all becomes mute points next Saturday ... -----Original Message----- From: gatortalk@googlegroups.com [mailto:gatort...@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Shane Ford Sent: Monday, September 06, 2010 3:23 PM To: gatortalk@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: [gatortalk] Rumors, stubbornness and Playmakers Keith, you appear to be drawing proper conclusions from the stats you put forth. BUT... You have to keep in mind those are stats from ONE game. Does a general draw up an entire war plan from the plans made for one battle? No, of course they don't! We have to keep in mind that we haven't watched these players and how the perform throughout summer practice; but the coaches have. I think instead of doing wholesale changes based on one game's results - we really need to assume that the coaches who have won 2 NC's in the past 4 years know what they are doing with the talent that they have. I think Pouncey will correct the problem - even though he does not how - but what if he doesn't? Would Meyer's stubbornness, I mean loyalty, prevent Meyer from replacing Pouncey if we continue to see problems in USF game? Speaking of stubbornness, I mean loyalty, and playmakers - Meyer did take away from the first game what everyone else took away. Most people saw Gillislee and Hines busting their butts whenever they touched the ball and Rainey, Demps, and Moody giving up at first contact. But Meyer thinks that he needs to get Demps and Moody more involved! "If you give him his crease, that's a good day for the Gators," coach Urban Meyer said. "We've just got to utilize him more. We've got to get him and Moody going because they're really good players." IMHO - that is the wrong conclusion. The right conclusion is that Demps and Moody need to be demoted to second string and Gillislee promoted to first string. -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us
