My father-in-law used to joke that it was a shame they didn't finish the
barge canal so the bottom half of the state could float away, taking the
Yankees with it....maybe he wasn't joking??

No, I will argue that Key West is South Florida.  If Key West isn't
South Florida, then it's the Caribbean.
