She was actually someone who brought it to the attention of leadership above her. The story goes that a coach heard (or overheard) something concerning from a gymnast, brought it to Faehn who promptly took it to her superiors who....did nothing, apparently. Maybe she could have done more, but I sincerely believe that she was not involved with covering it up, in spite of her closeness to the Karolyis. Apparently the current gymnasts were very upset with her firing because they trusted her and felt that she did generally care about their well-being.
