Born in 1944 she was daughter of 30s & 40s s actress Nasim Banu.She was in London for studies when she returned back to India she got offer of Junglee,she signed the film Junglee(1961) was hit and it made Saira an overnight star.In most of her films she played the role of girl who made pranks on Hero,had cold war with him and finally fell in love with him.After Junglee,she gave three hits Bluff Master,Aayi Milan Ki Bela and April Phool.

She fell in love with Daleep Kumar and both got married in 1966.The late 1960s saw the industry being flooded with rumours of Saira being seriously affected by a serious blood disease (it was actually a severe case of colitis).She had to take a break and lost out on many films.Manoj Kumar already signed Saira for Purab Aur Pachim and he was told that he should replace her as she is having health probblem,but Manoj Kumar waited for her recovery coz according to him only Saira will be bale portrait the role of Western Girl.She made successful entry again with hits like Shagird,Deewana,Padosan,Jhuk Gaya Aasmaan,Purab Aur Pachim and Aadmi Aur Insaan.

She finally got to work with her Real Life Hero Daleep Kumar in 70s in films Gopi,Sagina and Bairaag.She also got chance to work with Hrishikesh Mukherjee' in Chaitali which met with limited success.She was still going well with hits like Hera Pheri,Victoria No 203,Zameer etc.After that Saira decided to end her career.Now She is a successful television producer,she has produced serial like Is Duniya Ke Sitare and some serial for Sahara Channel. 
 
May be you dont know-She got Filmfare Best Actress Nominations for Junglee,Deewana and Shagird.She was offered Guide but she could not give right dates as she was going to do a film with Daleep Kumar which could not get complete.She was also offered Choti Bahu but becouse of her blood disease she could not do that film later Sharmila did that film.She was offered Nagin by Rajkumar Kohli but she was not convinced with her role and Reena Roy did that film.
