Its quite a CLICHE to think that men wearing an earrin in the right ear is GAY. Gay men are FASHION PIONEERS......no doubt about it. According to clothing history in the mid-late 19th century or so, gay men to recognise each other had various identification variable(as we have the BLACK GB CAP)..... a kerchief hanging from their trouser, right pocket....was copied by the straights.....then it was wearin an earring/stud in the right ear...copied again by the straight...eventually, they started wearing earrings/stud in both the ears......n was copied yet another time by the straights...... Copying was not the issue coz for that period is was a BOLD FASHION STATEMENT......and thus adapted universally in the west(men are wearin NOSE Stud/Ring in the west these days.....LENNY KRAVITZ) Now in the Indian context, wearrin earring is a very traditional n cultural aspect (which people think is a western concept) See Rural Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu n Maharashtra, ears are pierced of baby boys at a very young age...... the other aspect is of ACUPUNTURE...the tradition healing via needles......wherein nose, ears lobes, inside of the ear is pierced..... So i guess in this 21st century, thinking tat a guy is gay jus coz he is wearing an earrin/stud in his right ear is not a great issue.....
