The trivia is factually correct. The pronunciation of 'Bondyopadhyay' always got blocked in the stiff upper lip, a genetic deformity afflicting about 96% of the inhabitants of Great Britain in the last century. This meant that they had to change Bondyopadhyay to Banerjee; Chattopahyay to Chatterjee; and Mukhopadhyay to Mukherjee;
What remains an unsolved mystery however is why they did not change Gangopadhyay to Gangerjee. I personnaly continue to feel that 'Sourav Gangerjee' has a much more poetic tone over 'Saurav Gaangoolee'.
