If you really want to get a feel of the original earth, want to breath pure
air, if you really want to see stunning landscapes of unspoiled wilderness - Go
trekking with GayBombay to Sudhagad

The New Zealanders call it "Tramping, the Australian's "Bush Walking". The
English call it Hiking", while we Indians call it "Trekking" Call it what you
wish, trekking is the best way to see the world.

On Sunday 23 September, the GayBombay chariot shall hit the Mumbai Goa Highway.
Onboard the chariot there shall be cheers and jeers, song and dance and food
(breakfast) as we pass Panvel, Pen and than to Nagothane where we shall take a
detour from the Mumbai Goa Highway towards Pali - the land of the Ballaleshwar
Ganpati- One of the Ashtavinayaks.

With the blessings of Lord Ganesh, leaving our chariot behind we shall ascend
the sahayadris on a trek that could be described as child's play. The gradient
isn't very steep either. The difficult terrain has been overcome by proper iron
stairways like the ones in Victorian buildings. Leisurely walking along the
beaten path (taken by earlier trekkers), in a couple of hours the GayBombay
Royal cavalcade shall enter the Fort through the Pacahapur Mahadarwaja and
shall proceed to the Pant Sachiv Rajwada. This where the royalties shall hold
court and be entertained with food, music and games "Yahan shamma jalegi,
chausar bichega aur shabab bhi hoga aur husn bhi"

For those who want to inspect the fort can visit the Bhoraidevi Temple, Shiva
Temple, Takmak Tok (Echo Point) and see the several secret escape routes on the
fort.

We shall spend most of the day on the Fort until about 5:00 in the evening when
our royal cavalcade shall have to descend the fort before it gets dark. The
descend onto Pali should take us an hour.

Ganesh Festival time is the most auspicious time to visit this temple
Ballaleshwar Ganpati and we shall certainly visit the temple on before we get
on to our chariot. But as we near Mumbai remember to shed your royalty and
return to the real world. Remind yourself that you are not a king but just
another pauper.
