HIV Prevention with Marginalized MSM in India 
 
POSITION:    Program Coordinator (India based)

SUPERVISOR:   Program Manager (US based)

The purpose of the Community Development Model Scale up program is to provide 
comprehensive HIV services to MSM in 12 districts across 4 states in India. The 
program expects to reach over 60,000 MSM and avert almost 5,364 HIV infections 
in the two-and-half year project period.  AED is working in partnership with 
India Naz Foundation International (INFI) and AED will be responsible for 
evaluation and technical assistance provision as well as the management of a 
helpline to reach “hidden” MSM.  

Essential responsibilities: 
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of AED’s 
portion of the program which includes management of a helpline for MSM, outcome 
evaluation, as well as new business development for AED’s Center on AIDS and 
Community Health.  S/he will work with hotline counselors across 4 states to 
troubleshoot issues, provide technical support to counselors as needed, liaise 
with headquarters regarding results and provide quality control to support 
given.  Additionally, s/he will be responsible for management of data 
collection for AED’s outcome evaluation which involves hiring and management of 
consultants for a BSS study, management of the respondant driven sampling 
approach to data collection, development of SPSS databases for data, and 
provision of technical assistance to NGO’s on the collection of data. The 
Program Coordinator will also be responsible for actively pursue new HIV 
programming opportunities for AED in country,
 including routine meetings with potential donors, representing AED and its 
work (globally) at forums within India, identify funding opportunities, and 
lead proposal development (writing and coordination) with support from AED/HQ. 
 
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
·       Demonstrated experience with implementing HIV prevention program, 
preferably with MSM, in the South Asian context
·       Experience conducting outcome evaluations including instrument 
development, systematic data collection and training of data collectors, SPSS 
database development, confidential management of data, data cleaning and data 
analysis using SPSS software; past experience with using Respondent Driven 
Sampling (RDS) approach a plus.
·       Strong technical knowledge around best practices related to MSM 
interventions within the South Asian context
·       Must be an excellent communicator (verbal and written) as the position 
requires provision of technical assistance and sharing AED’s results in country
·       Previous experience soliciting, writing and developing grants and new 
opportunities
·       Graduate degree strongly preferred.  
·       Strong English skills required knowledge of South Asian language 
preferred.
