I propose that the GB withdraw Sponsorship of the long inactive Audio Engine [0], Font Scaler [1], Graphics Rasterizer [2], and Modules [3] Projects. The first three Projects, Audio Engine, Font Scaler, and Graphics Rasterizer, were created to develop code to replace encumbrances which were present when the JDK was open-sourced in 2008. These Projects became inactive shortly after the features were delivered into JDK 7 (GA Jul 2011). Discussion of these areas of the JDK has been on client mailings lists for years (currently client-libs-dev). The Modules Project was an early approach to provide an implementation of a distribution format for Java code and related resources as defined by JSR 277 and JSR 294. The Project became inactive in 2008. The Modules Project was superseded by Project Jigsaw (and JSR 376) which was delivered into JDK 9 (GA Sep 2017). Jigsaw discussion has been on jigsaw-dev since its creation in 2009. Votes are due by 23:59 UTC on Wednesday, 11 October. Only current Governing Board Members [a] are eligible to vote on this motion. Votes must be cast in the open by replying to this mailing list. For Lazy Consensus voting instructions, see [b].
