PPPoE (and any other form of PPP) doesn't use a "default route" in the
classic sense.  Since the link is a point to point link, it knows that
(when the interface is configured to be the gateway) it should forward all
traffic to the other end of the link.

Each OS handles this differently, but most that I've seen set a static arp
entry for the remote endpoint, then set the default gateway to this
endpoint.

The GNATBox web interface since v.3.3.0 uses a checkbox to tell the
firewall that this ppp (or pppoe or dhcp) interface should be used as the
gateway.

Go to the Network Information screen.  Look at the line for your PPP
interface, then look to screen-right.  You'll see a checkbox in the
Gateway column.

Select this, and the interface will be used as the gateway interface.
This will override the Default Gateway that can be configured at the
bottom of the Network Information page.
