Today, I verified that 3 separate networks had infected systems sending out infected emails. They all had the versions in question running, WITH LATEST DEFINITIONS! None were aware of the problem. I have since confirmed via email and firewall logs that the emails originated from those sources and aided their IT personnel to identify and clean their systems. If you are using these versions, please contact Symantec immediately and I strongly urge you to update to the version 3.0 or better yet 3.1 of the SMTP gateway product and at least 8.0 of the client product. So far, those version have saved my hide. In addition, the email "From" address is spoofing addresses and sending to auto-responder accounts (email addresses that have auto response messages setup) that further complicate matters.
