It's too early for me to definitively say if, and what, problems I'm having, but I'm seeing "strangeness" with the VMAC addresses used by my HA pair of GB1000's.
These are located at a remote datacenter, and the upstream ISP is reporting that their router is seeing the configured external and alias IP addresses changing ARP frequently between the HA ones (00:00:5e...) and the real ones (00:d0:68...). As far as I understood it, the real MACs should never be used; every packet leaving the GB should be using the VMACs, but this would seem not to be the case. This is manifesting itself in all sorts of odd ways; some alias interfaces (with static address mappings) are fine, others are not, intermittent routing strangeness, and an almost total lack of connectivity to one half of the HA pair. Before I head to the datacenter with a packet sniffer to try and work out what's happening, can anyone think of anything I should be aware of or check? -- Phil Dye, Technical Services Manager A L C H E M Y D I G I T A L Tel: +44 (0)23 8021 3400 http://www.alchemydigital.com/ ------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]
