Thanks to all for all the input into this. During my trials of getting the client working successfully, I kind of went off on a tangent and started looking into using windows 2000 l2tp/ipsec vpn.
I got one set up with a certificate authority and after some fiddling, all seems to work very well indeed, with minimal config on the client part. I have a couple of questions for the list members that I hope you can help with, before I decide to go with this, or keep on trying with the safenet client. My situation is this. 10 laptop users w2k/XP all members of a corporate domain. They require full access to the corporate network, over dial up and broadband. All servers are 2k. 1. Which would be considered more secure .. l2tp with certificates or GB with pre-shared keys?, both in terms of deencrypting the data flow, and unauthorised users gaining access, and why. (GBauth is really a bit of a no go for these end users.. one password is too much to remember anyway.. let alone an ip address too!) 2. What advantages would the client give me over the built in windows VPN?
