We've been having a weird problem for a while... Our office is pretty small, we have 4 PC's, one WAP (supporting a laptop and a printer).
We also have about a dozen users on frame relay attached to our network as well. The problem we are experiencing is that when my PC, and my partner Nelson's PC are both on the PRO, Nelson has a LOT of trouble getting to the PSN network. Pretty much anytime he tries to access anything on the PSN, his computer hesitates about 20-30 seconds before loading what he needs. When I moved my PC over to the PSN, his problems disappeared. When I move back to the PRO, he has problems again. We've both rebuilt our PC's (He rebuilt his just to see if he had a software glitch, I rebuilt mine because my motherboard died) and this has not changed the problem one bit. Our PRO switch is a Cisco 3524XL. Our GnatBox is a GB-Flash 3.4.4. We plan to upgrade the firewall to 3.5 sooner or later, but we just haven't had the time to do so yet. This problem is seriously baffling us. I *think* it's the firewall causing the trouble, but I'm honestly not sure. My PC hiccups once in a while in a similar fashion, but that's maybe twice a day... It happens to Nelson constantly, and makes it really hard for him to work. I'm at a loss however in trying to track down the problem. I'd put a packet sniffer on the network if I could figure out how in the world to make the switch co-operate. (The last time I tried to configure one of our switches to sniff, I somehow wound up rendering the port unusable until I reset the switch....) I see no error messages in the GnatBox logs. I can't find any error message up on the servers. However, I'm fairly confident that something between our two PC's is pissing off his system. I just got back from lunch a little while ago, and a couple minutes after I sat down, Nelson came in my office and said 'Well, I figured you must be back...I can't get the network anymore.' ANY help whatsoever will be greatly appreciated. This problem is so baffling to me that I can't even come up with a reasonable explanation for what's going on.
