I'm particularly interested in what assembler you're > using, and what `grep HAVE_GAS_WEAK gcc/auto-host.h' prints. /* Define if your assembler supports .weak. */ #ifndef USED_FOR_TARGET #define HAVE_GAS_WEAK 1 #endif /* Define if your assembler supports .weakref. */ #ifndef USED_FOR_TARGET #define HAVE_GAS_WEAKREF 1 #endif I think that GAS shouldn't advertise .weakref support under hppa-hpux. Support for the HP assembler which doesn't have weak support is nearly dead. All recent versions of GAS have ".weak" support. I'm using the following gas versions at the moment: -bash-2.05b$ /opt/gnu/bin/as --version GNU assembler 2.16.91 20051106 Copyright 2005 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
