"Installing GCC" [1] explicitly encourages building the source code with objdir separate from srcdir.

It does not attempt to create a sub directory for nor configure libltdl at all. 2. libjava/libltdl/config.sub assumes that ../../config.sub can be found. The intention is to use srcdir/config.sub, but it cannot be refered to this way when objdir != srcdir.
