------- Comment #1 from geoffk at gcc dot gnu dot org 2007-03-02 18:59 ------- This is because gccspec.c is adding -shared-libgcc when it sees an Objective-C file, but inconsistently; it doesn't handle -x options, it doesn't handle the -objC flag. On Darwin, it's wrong to add -shared-libgcc like this because the objective-C runtime uses setjmp/longjmp exceptions and some versions of Darwin don't have a shared libgcc to use.
