Probably noticeable; however, Debian and Apple are already distributing bi-arch compilers, and something has been done to improve the situation (HOST_WIDEST_FAST_INT, the -fsplit-wide-types pass, ...). -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=38934
