Note that the *diagnostic* use of that c_cast_p flag is: if (!c_cast_p && check_for_casting_away_constness (intype, type, STATIC_CAST_EXPR, complain)) return error_mark_node; Then, looks like we should just remove it from such conditionals (3 in static and 1 in interpret)? Seems simple.
