That would probably be better indeed, it's dangerous to rely on the base compiler too much, in particular when the base compiler is a C++ compiler. This whole switch to C++ is causing all sort of subtle troubles in particular wrt building GNAT, so if people who worked on the switch could have a look and suggest a change, I'll be happy to review it.
