For what it is worth, here are timings for the same test programs built with Gfortran/GCC 6.2.0 under Windows Subsystem for Linux (Ubuntu 14) on Windows-10: GCC 6.2.0 : 1.984 s GFortran 6.2.0 : 8.438 s
