I've now completed bootstraps of i386-pc-solaris2.11 and
sparc-sun-solaris2.11 (each time as/ld, i.e. no string merging; and
gas/ld, i.e. with string merging) successfully.
The Solaris 11/x86 bootstrap failure is gone, as are the gfortran
testsuite failures on Solaris 11/SPARC.
