Due to this, compiled object files increase from 90 KiB (using gcc 4.9.2) to 15 MiB (gcc 7.3.0). This size increase is enormous. Aside from the fact that the disk space need becomes very large (don't know the total number, but it is definitely larger than 32 GiB), the final link step actually failed due to it.
