Ah, thanks for reducing.  I didn't get much further with cvise yesterday.  What
were your settings for it?

The reduced test case is great because it is easy to analyze and uncovers a
fairly significant problem.  However, I think it's not the same bug as in the
original test case.  After applying my fix the reduced test case works but I'm
still seeing wrong code in the original test case.

Going to test my fix and will try to post a patch later if successful.  Maybe
that will help cvise to not take the wrong turn.
