I'm not sure - the collect2 path has known issues that are hard to address and result in unexpected behavior, so it's probably not a good service to our users to serve them half-broken LTO. But I suppose we can discuss this when we also see a clear benefit in removing the corresponding code in gcc. Richard. kk
