This used to pass because <testsuite_hooks.h> included <assert.h>, but it doesn't now. The test wasn't failing because the stdc++.h PCH included <assert.h>, but it fails without PCH.
* testsuite/26_numerics/random/default_random_engine.cc: Use VERIFY instead of assert. Tested x86_64-linux, committed to trunk.
