Acknowledged. I installed the patch below to our "stylesheet" which replaces the 1% by 10em and refreshed all web pages on gcc.gnu.org; http://www.gnu.org/software/gcc/ should be updated within 24 hours. This is not what the user had suggested, but I believe it's the more appropriate fix. Tested with current versions of lynx, links, w3m, konqueror, and Mozilla.
